Project management is an essential subject for any student pursuing a career in engineering or business. At KTU, Kerala, the subject is taught over two semesters, S7 and S8, and covers six modules. In Module 1, students learn the basics of project management, including project planning, scheduling, and budgeting. Module 2 covers project organization and team management, while Module 3 focuses on risk management and quality control. In Module 4, students learn about project procurement and contract management, while Module 5 covers project monitoring and control. Finally, in Module 6, students learn about project closure and evaluation.
The 2019 scheme for the subject includes a range of topics that are essential for any aspiring project manager. Students will learn about the various tools and techniques used in project management, including Gantt charts, critical path analysis, and earned value management. They will also learn about the importance of effective communication and stakeholder management in project success. The subject also covers the legal and ethical considerations involved in project management, as well as the various software tools available for project planning and monitoring.
