Power Electronics is a subject that deals with the study of power electronic devices and their applications in various fields. It is a core subject for students pursuing their Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at Kerala Technological University (KTU). The subject is covered in the seventh semester of the 2019 scheme and is divided into six modules.

Module 1 of the subject covers the basics of power electronics, including the characteristics of power electronic devices, their classification, and their applications. Module 2 deals with the analysis and design of rectifiers and inverters, while Module 3 focuses on the study of DC-DC converters and their applications. Module 4 covers the analysis and design of AC-DC converters, and Module 5 deals with the study of resonant converters and their applications. Finally, Module 6 covers the analysis and design of power supplies and their applications.

By studying Power Electronics, students will gain an understanding of the principles of power electronic devices and their applications in various fields. They will also learn how to analyze and design power electronic circuits and systems, including rectifiers, inverters, DC-DC converters, AC-DC converters, resonant converters, and power supplies. Additionally, they will learn how to apply their knowledge of power electronics to solve real-world problems and design innovative solutions.
