New and Renewable Energy Sources is a subject offered in the seventh semester of the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) program at Kerala Technical University (KTU). The subject covers six modules, namely Module 1: Introduction to Renewable Energy Sources, Module 2: Solar Energy, Module 3: Wind Energy, Module 4: Hydro Energy, Module 5: Bio Energy, and Module 6: Ocean Energy. The subject aims to provide students with an understanding of the various new and renewable energy sources that are available, and how they can be harnessed to meet the growing energy demands of the world.

In Module 1, students will learn about the need for renewable energy sources, the different types of renewable energy sources, and the advantages and disadvantages of using them. Module 2 covers solar energy, including the principles of solar radiation, solar thermal energy, and solar photovoltaic energy. In Module 3, students will learn about wind energy, including the principles of wind energy conversion, wind turbine technology, and wind farm design. Module 4 covers hydro energy, including the principles of hydroelectric power generation, types of hydroelectric power plants, and the environmental impacts of hydroelectric power.
