Metrology & Instrumentation is a subject that deals with the study of measurement and instrumentation techniques used in various fields of engineering. This subject is a part of the 2019 schema of the Kerala Technical University (KTU) and is taught in the seventh semester of various engineering courses. The subject contains six modules, namely Module 1, Module 2, Module 3, Module 4, Module 5, and Module 6. Each module covers a different aspect of the subject, starting from the basics of measurement to advanced instrumentation techniques.

Module 1 of Metrology & Instrumentation covers the fundamental concepts of measurement, including the types of errors in measurement, calibration, and standards of measurement. Module 2 deals with the various types of measuring instruments used in engineering, such as ammeters, voltmeters, and wattmeters. Module 3 focuses on the principles of transducers and their applications in engineering. Module 4 covers the basics of signal conditioning and signal processing techniques used in instrumentation. Module 5 deals with the various types of sensors used in engineering, such as temperature sensors, pressure sensors, and flow sensors. Finally, Module 6 covers the principles of control systems and their applications in engineering.
