Mechanics of Solids is a subject that deals with the study of the behavior of solid materials under different types of loads. This subject is a part of the curriculum for students pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Kerala Technical University (KTU). The subject is taught in the seventh semester of the 2019 scheme and covers six modules - Module 1, Module 2, Module 3, Module 4, Module 5, and Module 6.

In Module 1, students learn about the basic concepts of stress and strain, while in Module 2, they study the different types of stresses and their effects on materials. Module 3 deals with the analysis of axial loads, while Module 4 covers the study of torsion. In Module 5, students learn about the bending of beams, and in Module 6, they study the deflection of beams.

The subject of Mechanics of Solids is an important one for Mechanical Engineering students as it provides them with a strong foundation in the principles of mechanics. By studying this subject, students learn how to analyze and design structures that can withstand different types of loads. They also learn about the behavior of different materials under different types of loads, which is essential for designing safe and efficient structures.

To help students in their studies, KTU has made available the KTU Notes for Mechanics of Solids on their website ktunotes.net
