Mechanics of Fluids is a subject that deals with the study of fluids and their behavior under various conditions. It is a core subject in the curriculum of many engineering courses, including the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) program offered by the Kerala Technological University (KTU). The subject is taught in the seventh semester of the B.Tech program, and it is divided into six modules - Module 1, Module 2, Module 3, Module 4, Module 5 & 6, and Others. The syllabus of the subject covers a wide range of topics, including fluid properties, fluid statics, fluid dynamics, flow measurements, and fluid machinery.

In Module 1, students learn about the basic concepts of fluid mechanics, including fluid properties, fluid statics, and pressure measurement. Module 2 covers the principles of fluid dynamics, including the Bernoulli's equation, continuity equation, and momentum equation. Module 3 deals with the flow of incompressible fluids through pipes and channels, while Module 4 focuses on the flow of compressible fluids. Module 5 & 6 cover the principles of fluid machinery, including pumps, turbines, and compressors. The Other module covers topics like boundary layer theory, dimensional analysis, and fluid simulation.

The Mechanics of Fluids subject is an important one for students pursuing a career in engineering, as it provides a foundation for understanding the behavior of fluids in various engineering applications
