Data Communication is a subject that deals with the transmission of data from one device to another. It is an essential part of modern-day communication systems, and students who take this subject will learn about various communication protocols, networking technologies, and data transmission techniques. The subject is offered at Kerala Technical University (KTU) as part of the 2019 schema for the seventh semester of the Electronics and Communication Engineering course.

Module 4 deals with error detection and correction techniques, including parity checking, cyclic redundancy checking, and Hamming codes. Module 5 focuses on the different types of data compression techniques, including lossless and lossy compression, and the different compression algorithms. Finally, Module 6 covers the different types of network security techniques, including encryption, decryption, and digital signatures.
