Biomedical Instrumentation is a subject that is taught in the seventh semester of the Biomedical Engineering course at KTU, Kerala. The subject covers the principles and applications of various instruments used in the medical field. The syllabus includes six modules, starting with an introduction to biomedical instrumentation and progressing to more advanced topics such as electrocardiography, electromyography, and medical imaging. By the end of the course, students will have a thorough understanding of the various instruments used in medical diagnosis and treatment.

Module 1 of the course covers the basics of biomedical instrumentation, including the different types of sensors and transducers used in medical devices. Students will learn about the various physiological parameters that can be measured using these instruments, such as temperature, pressure, and flow. Module 2 focuses on electrocardiography, which is the measurement of the electrical activity of the heart. Students will learn about the different types of ECG machines and how to interpret ECG readings.

Module 3 covers electromyography, which is the measurement of the electrical activity of muscles. Students will learn about the different types of EMG machines and how to interpret EMG readings. Module 4 focuses on medical imaging, including X-rays, CT scans, and MRI scans. Students will learn about the principles behind these imaging techniques and how to interpret the images produced.

Module 5 covers the principles of ultrasound imaging, which is a non-invasive imaging technique used to visualize internal organs and tissues
