Are you a student of mechanical engineering at KTU, Kerala? If yes, then you must be familiar with the subject "Basics of Mechanical Engineering" offered in the 2019 schema. This subject is designed to provide students with a fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering and its various applications. The subject is divided into six modules, namely Module 1, Module 2, Module 3, Module 4, Module 5, and Module 6. Each module covers a different aspect of mechanical engineering, starting from the basics of thermodynamics and mechanics to the principles of machine design and material science.
In Module 1, students will learn about the fundamental concepts of thermodynamics, including the laws of thermodynamics, thermodynamic cycles, and heat transfer. Module 2 covers the principles of mechanics, including statics, dynamics, and kinematics. In Module 3, students will learn about the different types of materials used in mechanical engineering and their properties. Module 4 covers the principles of machine design, including the design of gears, bearings, and shafts. In Module 5, students will learn about the different types of machines used in mechanical engineering, including engines, turbines, and compressors. Finally, Module 6 covers the basics of manufacturing processes, including casting, forging, and welding.
